Saint George's First Graders
Earthworks was lucky enough to host a field trip for the first grade students of Saint George's School in Spokane. The students were accompanied by teachers Julianne Clark, Carol Hinchcliff and Bus Driver Rob Wilson. As you'll see in the pictures below these kiddos were quite excited to spend some hands-on time learning about the recycling process!

Prepared with phone books in hand, these kids got started recycling, right away!

Earthworks owner and premier tour guide Jim Schrock talks to the students about what's going to happen to these phone books when they get recycled.

Moving right along to the most exciting piece of equipment in our yard, Bob gave these first graders a first hand look at the can weighing machine.

Cardboard! One of our cardboard balers, David demonstrated how we get the cardboard shaped in to those big square bales scattered around Earthworks.
They were even lucky enough to see the machine do its work after being loaded.

Earthworks recycles several items, and these students were able to see a lot of them. Here Jim is showing them some copper wire that had been brought in for recycling.

To wrap things up, Jim weighed up all the students, seeing how much they'd be worth if they were made from gold or copper! This was also a great time for the students to ask any questions they still had about recycling.
Thanks for coming out and learning about recycling, tell all your friends "Recycling is Easy!"
